About Argus Assurance
Argus Assurance is an independent governance, risk, compliance, audit and evaluation practice focused on helping organisations understand whether their arrangements are working in practice—not merely documented on paper.
The Argus approach
Governance, risk and compliance arrangements should do more than satisfy formal requirements. They should shape decisions, clarify accountability, identify emerging problems and support better organisational outcomes.
Argus Assurance focuses on the gap between documented frameworks and what happens in practice—examining whether responsibilities are understood, controls operate consistently, evidence supports assurance and leaders have meaningful visibility of performance.
Dr Scott Brown
Principal, Argus Assurance
About Scott
Scott Brown is the Principal of Argus Assurance. His experience spans regulatory monitoring and enforcement, performance audit, public policy, governance and organisational assurance.
He has worked within the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission and the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, giving him direct insight into how regulators and auditors assess governance, compliance, controls and organisational performance.
Scott holds a PhD in governance and regulation from the University of Melbourne. His research examined why organisations sometimes adopt governance and compliance frameworks in form without embedding them in substance—an issue that continues to shape the way Argus scopes engagements, assesses evidence and develops practical recommendations.
Clients work directly with Scott throughout each engagement, from initial scoping and evidence gathering through to analysis, advice and final reporting.
